Friday Night Live Kits

Listed below are all of the official vehicle kits we have built on Friday Night Live. I am not including episodes where we upgraded an existing car or built a rig from scratch. These are only builds that stand on their own, include an instruction manual, and conform to the typical use of the word “kit” in RC.

Tamiya Grasshopper

I haven’t built a ton of Vintage Tamiya kits but this was one of the most pleasurable vintage kit I’ve built, second only to the Kyosho Ultima. This kit was sent as a surprise, I had no idea it’s what I would be building that night. I built the kit with Fast Eddy Bearings and my own hardware.

7/10

Tamiya Volkswagon Type 2 Van

My first build on the Tamiya M-06 chassis. This is an interesting and flexible chassis being that it is setup to be built with multiple wheelbases. The body was painted by Moosejaw_Joe on IG and the kit belongs to him. Typical Tamiya throughout, so that means I used my own hardware and replaced with Fast Eddy Bearings.

6/10

Tamiya T3-01 Dancing Rider

Basically the same as the Dual Rider, but just as fun! I forgot to pickup bearings for this one though so I had to use the terrible bushings. However I did replace all the hardware.

6/10

Banggood F1 Car

This was supposed to be a kit, but it comes pretty much assembled. Very disappointing

2/10

Fijon FJ913 Motorcycle

A fully machined motorcycle kit that was fun but poor instructions made it difficult.

5/10

Axial SCX10-2 UMG10 Kit

The Axial SCX10-2 kit is one of the best kits available still.

8/10

Team Associated DR10 Kit

This was a great build, other than one issue with the front stub axle. Would definitely recommend this one!

8/10

Redcat Wendigo Part - 1

Redcat’s first kit and they did a good job on the manual, and parts bags. The Wendigo itself isn’t bad but not my favorite.

6/10

Redcat Wendigo Part - 2

Orlandoo Hunter OH35A01

What an absolute exercise in frustration!

1/10

RC4WD SWB TF2

Short wheelbase and leaf springs, all the things I don’t normally like! Parts and assembly aren’t terrible.

4/10

Tamiya Buggyra Fat Fox

A classic Tamiya TT-01E Chassis build with an awesome body! Simple but fun. Still uses that terrible hardware!

6/10

Vanquish Products VS4-10 Ultra

Revisiting the VS4-10 Ultra build with a proper streaming setup!

9/10

Tamiya Dual Rider

Another trike and one of the most fun RC’s to drive. The build is easy but the end result is a full experience that must be shared. JIS hardware and bushings!

6/10

Cross RC Howitzer

This is basically a static model that is made to be towed behind an RC. This was AWFUL! I would never recommend this thing.

0/10

Team Associated RC10

This was the second vintage RC I had ever built, and to this day it is one of my least favorite. I didn’t have any sentimental attachment to this type of car so I just didn’t find the enjoyment. Things have progressed for a reason!

2/10

Usukani D3T Drift Trike

This was a great build, super fun and I’m a sucker for anything with 3 wheels.

8/10

Vanquish Products VS4-10 Pro

First time I built a Vanquish kit on Friday Night Live with a proper streaming setup. The Pro is my hands down favorite RC kit to build at the time of building this.

10/10

Element Enduro Builders Kit

Element kits are simple but have their own hurdles with instruction and plastics.

5/10

Cross RC HC4

First kit that specifically picked up to build for the Friday Night Live stream! Cross kits are interesting… not in a great way.

3/10

Axial SCX10-3

This was at the release of that Axial SCX10-3 and technically wasn’t a Friday but did help to start my weekly program!

7/10

Vanquish Products VS4-10 Ultra

This was before I had decided to put together a proper streaming setup! Wow what a difference it made once I jumped to a quality system!
