The last time I took the GSG out the stock ended up cracking at the take down pin hole. Replacing the stock was on the top of my list ever since I got this gun. The factory stock always felt like a toy to me. While I was ordering I figured I might as well pick up a couple of the other popular upgrades as well. So when my order from Rrages.com finally arrived and I was anxious to get to work.

I ordered a full hardware upgrade which includes the following hardware:
Cap Head

  • M4x12 = 1
  • M3x6 = 1
  • M3x12 = 12
  • M3x16 = 1
  • M2.5×12 = 5

Button Head

  • M3x6 = 3

Nuts

  • M3 = 12
  • M2.5 = 5

Installing this requires a full teardown of the firearm. This was the second time I have done this (first time was replacing the barrel) and it was much easier this time. I followed a 4 part video series on YouTube and was done in about an hour. The new hardware feels 200% better than the original. It was also nice to get rid of the Phillips head stuff and the few small torx screws.

After reassembling most of the rifle I finished it off with a set of HK push pins. These were really worth the few bucks they cost, those stock screws and barrel nuts were a pain.

The finishing touch was to install the new Classic Army Retractable stock. This is actually made for high end air soft guns believe it or not. This stock was $69 and has a great fit and feel. I am VERY pleased with the stock. The HK version of this stock is something like $500!

Next on my list for this one is a new hand guard with a vertical forward grip. Also a slip on grip and a sling. After that I’ll think I’ll leave it alone for a bit… Maybe
