The ARC was the evolution of several ideas and concepts that are popular in the world of RC crawling.  With MOA crawlers dominating the 2.2 crawling scene there are many aspects of chassis design that can now be opened up. The chassis don't have to have room for a large transmission and motor any longer, it can now just hold our electronics and battery. These things are much smaller and can be moved around seperately for the best possible setup.

The ARC chassis concept was thought up while I was working late at the civil engineering consulting firm I am employed at. I scratched the idea down on a Post-it note and finished my work as fast as I could. I couldn't get the idea out of my head. The concept was to make some U-shaped pieces to create a tapered bottom and full width sides. This would allow me to have a narrow skid plate for minimal contact area on the rocks making it much harder to get high centered. It would also still give me the width at the top that I need for proper link seperation and room for my battery and electronics. There were many other details that needed to be worked out and many other cool features to pop-up.

Follow along with the next articles and see the concept evolve into final design, testing, and ultimately a very unique and original comp winning chassis.
