What a great weekend! This is my first expierence crawling in Colorado and only my second time ever stopping in the state. Eritex Inc drove down from Omaha to KC on Thursday night and ROCKEDUP RICKY rolled into town at about 7:30 on Friday morning to pick us up. We hit the road and rolled into Morrison at about 5:00.

We made a quick trip to the comp site to check out the rocks, we didn't do any driving just a quick walk though of the area. We met up with the RCC group at the Morrison Inn Mexican restaurant for some pretty decent food and then headed back to the hotel to hang out.

On Saturday morning I decided to switch out tires based on what I had observed the locals using. I knew that they had more drive time on this terrain than anyone and knew I should follow their lead. So I mounted up a set of medium Hot Bodies Rovers up onto a set of Eritex Inc Comp Heavies in Berg offset, thanks Gerame.

I decided to run Course #3 first. After watching a few competitors run I had my plan of attack and knew what lines looked right for me. More than any comp I have been to before this day seemed to be about which gates you were just going to straddle and move on. Taking a gate was usually the difference between finishing or not. I was able to finish course 3 with a 24, which turned out to be a great score for the course.

After course 3 I went to run course 4. Gate 2 on this course was the downfall of MOST people. I struggled with the gate as well, spending way too much time on it. After trying it from several angles I finally just lined up and FLOORED it! And what do you know it went right up! I ended up running out of time with one gate to go however and didn't get to finish. I was happy just getting beyond the point that stopped most people.

I am not even going to talk about course 2. It was clear that it changed and I just couldn't even get past the first gate. Again this was the case with a lot of people at the end of the day.

Course 1 was my last course of the day. Again after watching a few drivers I saw the lines that I wanted to try and went after it. I made a mistake by attempting the first gate instead of taking the straddle like I knew I should have though. This cost me 6 points. I didn't get lined up right for the 2nd to last gate and was forced to take another stradle, but I was able to finish with a score of 31.

A 19th place finish was enough to make me happy for the weekend, top 25 was my goal.
